Susannah was baptized by rev Craig, a Presbyterian minister, on Nov 25 1744 in Augusta County VA[1]
She married John Leeper, who is mentioned as a son-in-law in her father's will[2]. Along with her husband she moved to Nicholas County KY before 1800. John Leeper died in 1815 and left Susanna a significant portion of his estate[3]. Susanna died in 1822 and left a will, which mentioned her sons, James, William and Andrew. The will also mentioned her daughters, Susannah, married to James McClurkin, Margaret, married to John Roland, and Florence Leeper. She also mentions grand daughters Susanna and Isabella Wiley, doubtless children of her daughter Sarah, who must have died between her father's will in 1815 and mother's in 1822[4].
Children
(Order uncertain)
Sarah Leeper, married John Wiley in 1807 and had two children, Isabella and Susanna. She probubly died between 1815 and 1822, as she was mentioned in her father's will, but not her mother's.
William Leeper was left "the money he stands indebted to me", by his father, and two hundred dollars, by his mother
John Leeper, was convicted of felonus stealing in 1806. His father left him 100$, but seemed unsure if he was still living. He is not mentioned in his mother's will.
Andrew Leeper, probably married Rachel Henderson in 1809. He was left enslaved woman and her child by his father, and was left 200$ by his mother.
Susannah Leeper, born 12 Sep 1789 and married James McClurkin in 1811 and moved with him to Illinois. She was left 200$ in both her father's and her mother's wills.
Margaret Leeper, married John Rowland before 1815. She was left 200$ in both her father's and her mother's wills.
James Leeper, was involved in posting bond for his brother's legal troubles. He was left his father's farming utensils and 200$, by his mother. He was also paid by his mother's estate for keeping an "old negro woman".
Florence Leeper, was the only daughter not married in both parent's wills. She was left furniture and, along with her mother, the residue of the estate. Her mother also left her the balance of her estate.
Slaves
Susannah's will does not mention any enslaved person's, but the estate inventory mentions two.
1) Milly is described as a is described as a "Malala(?)" girl. She was left to Susanna, in her husband's will several years earlier. She was probably sold with the rest of the estate after Susanna's death
2) Susanna's son James was paid by the estate for "keeping an old negro woman". This may have been the other enslaved person left to Susanna by her husband, a woman named Judy.
