Biography

Vera was born in 1890 in Ritchie County, WV, the daughter of Rev. Eri Benson Hoff and Malinda Ann Hart. She was married by her father to Espie Augustus Wade in 1910 in Alvy, WV. The couple settled in Harpster, OH, where Espie was a fireman and Vera had a beauty shop as one point. They never had children. Her husband passed away in 1969, and Vera died in Upper Sandusky, OH in 1976; they are buried together in Oak Hill Cemetery there.

Research notes

The birth records are given as 1889, but when examined, there seems to be a mix of 1889 and 1890 birthdates across a couple pages of the register. The birth year of 1890 given in the 1900 census, death records and on the gravestone is therefore considered more reliable.
