From Hollister Family of America:
"Albert G., son of John Hollister and Philena Hubbard, was born near Hanover, Licking Co., Ohio, Oct. 11, 1811. He was brought up on the farm, and in addition to farming, obtained a good knowledge of the milling business. In 1838 he emigrated to North-western Missouri and bought land in the counties of Andrew and Holt. On his farm in Holt County he built first, a saw-mill and soon afterward a grist-mill, the first and only flour-mill that part of the country could boast of for many years. It supplied bread-stuff even to the border counties of Iowa and Kansas. Although an influential citizen, he held but few offices. In the earlier years of his residence in the State, he held for a short time the office of postmaster and justice-of-the-peace. In 1860 he was elected representative of Holt County, and in 1862 he was reelected. He has always been a strong advocate of compulsory education, and introduced an amendment to the school laws of his State to that effect. Although then defeated, he had the gratification of hearing of its adoption some years after he had ceased to be a resident of the State. The burning of his mills in 1866 was a pecuniary loss he never recovered from. He removed to Santa Barbara Co., Cal., in 1871, where he now lives, his post-office address being Goleta. The event of his life to which he attaches the most importance, is his having been chosen one of the Seventy who went to Washington in the winter of 1862 to ask President Lincoln for a change of policy for Missouri.
He married 1st, Louisa M., daughter of Howell Woodbridge of Glastonbury, Conn., April, 1839. She died March 20, 1847, and he married 2d, Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Wickham of Fillmore, Mo., Aug. 30, 1848."[1]
