Diabetes Type 2 Dewaine lived in numerous location in and around Fresno California while growing up. He did live in Texas for a short time. 1972 after completing grade 10 in high school Dewaine left Fresno and moved to Chiloquin Oregon and lived with his Aunt and Uncle. Dewaine Graduated from Chiloquin High School June of 1974. January 21, 1974 he enlisted in the U.S. Army"s Delayed Entry program until he finished High School. Seven days after graduation he left for Ft. Knox Kentucky for Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training. Upon completion He was qualified as a Tank Crewman 11E. October 1974 Dewaine reported for duty in the 3rd Armored Division in West Germany, during the Cold War. He was assigned to the 1st Brigade, Co B 2/33 Ayers Kaserne (The Rock), Kirchgons. He was there for three years. Primary duty was a Tank Crewman. He preformed all duties on the Tank (Loader, Driver, Gunner and Tank Commander). He qualified Expert in Tank Weapons. While there he suffered issues with his ears and hearing. He was assigned to the Unit Supply. He OJT'd in supply and was awarded a secondary MOS of 76Y Unit Supply Sergeant. Dewaine was promoted to Sergeant E5 in less than Three years of service. After leaving W. Germany Dewaine was assigned to the Combat Experimental Developmental Command at Ft. Ord (Camp Hunter Leggett) California. He spent the last seven months of active duty there, June 12, 1978. While at Hunter Leggett Dewaine was assigned as the Unit Supply Sgt, About December of 1979 Dewaine the U.S. Army Reserves in Klamath Falls, Co D 2-1 of the 104th Division (training). He was assigned the duties of Supply Sergeant. After being promoted to Staff Sergeant and served for several years he became the Company Training NCO. After the assignment he was promoted to Sergeant First Class, he serviced in that position for 13 years. The then became the Battalion Supply Sergeant in Medford, Oregon. Dewaine service 21 years and retired from the Reserves. During his Army career he had three MOS's 11E (19E) Armor Crewman, 11B Infantry and 76Y (92Y) Supply Sergeant. He earned various awards. The highest award was the Meritorious Service Award. He worked in a Lumber Mill for a short time. He worked for the Klamath County Schools as a Bus Driver and a Custodian for 11 years. Dewaine had 36 years in the Fire Service. 13 years with Oregon Department of Forestry. He was qualified as a Type 2 Fire Investigator, Type 1 Division / Group Supervisor and Type 3 Incident Commander. Two years he served as the Unit Protection Supervisor he was Forest Officer and conducted Industrial Logging Site Fire Inspections. While employed at ODF he worked both Klamath and Lake Counties and the State of Oregon. On numerous occasion he was dispatched to fires in California, New Mexico and all of Oregon. He served five years as a volunteer firefighter for Chiloquin Agency Lake Fire District. During the time he was a firefighter, Captain and Battalion Chief. In 1995 he was promoted to Fire Chief, he service in this position for 30 years and retire June 30, 2015. He had many qualification. He was looked upon in the State of Oregon as one of the elite Fire Officers. He was assigned to the Oregon Fire Management as a Structural Protection Division Group Supervisor. He was dispatched to many fire across Oregon for structure protection.
