Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month!

We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

And we're always looking for volunteers to assist in different ways.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I'm here to help!

Vicky Majewski ~ WikiTree Mentor

You might want to set your Privacy to Private with Public Family Tree. The WikiTree programming needs to see your Family Tree tab to make DNA and other cousin connections for you. Please take a look at my profile http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cooper-1 where I use Private with Public Biography AND Family Tree to see a list of some of my WikiTree cousin connections and my list of U.S. Presidential cousins.

Can I use Myself as a reference as long as I am posting what I know about my family tree?

I am going to add what I know about my family history as best as I can to my knowledge ( using myself as a source. All that I list will be set to Private till I either get that person to join here or I get their permission to list what everyone can see, Which I hope with the private setting for now is enough to help out this site. look at my comment below. Feel free to private email me if there something in my tree that can help you out if I can, because I will try to reach and verify who you are, So I am not in a catch 22. If I am able to verify either by your tree or by my relatives or our relatives if that is the case. Since I feel this way I also have to respect the same in return so you can verify who I am if I am the one asking the questions.

I would also like to say. I am new at this basical just start this week which is the 4th week of May 2016. I have join alot of sites this week far too many to count and maybe keep up with, Most of them requires payment which I am unable to do at this point in time, which I am glad this is a free site like familysearch which is where I started out before here. please bare with me as a stumble along the way here and try my best to honor the honor code to the best of my ability. When I hope I will be able to become a full member here. I am using all the other sites to as much information as I can from them. But I do believe that this site and familysearch will be main sites that I will do my best to keep on top of. Thank you to all that out there that would be willing to help show me the way

Vernon, I am happy to confirm you as a member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.  You've got the right idea! Go for it!

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.  Try our Question of the Week. How do you document, preserve, and share your photos? How do you store your originals? Have a look around.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

See you in the branches --

Hi Vernon,

A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

We’re really glad you’re here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.
