John Hoyt was born on July 25, 1689 at Amesbury, Massachusetts, son of Thomas and Elisabeth (Huntington) Hoyt.[1][2]
He married Sarah Barnard on August 22, 1723 at Amesbury. [1][2] Sarah was born at Amesbury on September 18, 1700, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Jewell) Barnard. [3]
1726: He and his two brothers Jacob and Timothy were living in the West Parish in 1726. [2]: 1726: October 9: He was a member of the 2d or West Amesbury Church
1728: December 10: His wife Sarah joined the parish. [2]
John died between March 26, 1757 when his will was written and August 25, 1757 when Ezra Badger and Nathaniel Davis were appointed to appraise his estate. [4]
His estate was valued at L666: 13s: 4d, and included approximately 100 acres of land and buildings. [4]
His will was proved on September 5, 1757. [2][4] In it he left bequests to:
beloved wife Sarah, one third on his homestead and lands including one third each of tillage, orchards, mowing lands as well as cows, sheep and swine
five sons - John, Enoch, Ezra, Barnard and Jonathan, equal portions of the homestead in Amesbury, salt marsh in Salisbury, and his rights in the township bordering between Rumsford and Connecticut
two daughters Elizabeth Hoyt and Hannah Hoyt
daughter Sarah, now wife of Thomas Nichols
sons Enoch and Barnard designated as executors [4]

John born on June 29, 1724; married Abigail Nichols July 31, 1745[1] ; died on April 30, 1812. His widow Abigail died on May 18, 1821. [2]

Enoch born c'1727; baptized on December 31, 1727; lived in Amesbury; died on October 11, 1789, [1] likely not married. [2]
Barnard born on April 6, 1730 [1]; married Anne Stuart in Kingston on November 3, 1757; moved to Sanborton, New Hampshire before 1790. [2]
Ezra born on February 9, 1731/2; married Judith Hunt June 3, 1761 [1]; moved to Hopkinton, New Hampshire; died on Sept. 1806. [2]
Jonathan born c1733; baptized in December 1733 [1]; likely died young.
Elizabeth born c1734/5; baptized on January 12, 1734/5; married Stephen Sargent Jr. December 17, 1760 [1]; lived in Hopkington, New Hampshire. [2]
Mary bornc1738; baptized on August 27, 1738. [1]not mentioned in her father's will. [4]
Hannah born c1740; baptized on October 12, 1740. [1][2]
Jonathan born c1742: baptized on February 20, 1742/3; married Sarah Challis December 3, 1761 [1]; moved to Loudon, New Hampshire. [2]
