Biography

John was born in 1765 in Exeter, Berks, Pennsylvania. He was son of William and Hannah (Lewis) Iddings.

John married Ann Carroll in 1787. They lived in Chester County, Pennsylvania where their first 4 children were born. By 1804, John, Ann, and family had removed to Bald Eagle Valley, Union Township, Union (now Centre) County, Pennsylvania where their two last children were born. In 1800, John had bought a parcel of land in Bald Eagle Valley where he constructed a home and a blacksmith shop.

John and Ann had the following children: Eleanor "Hetty" Agnes, Joseph, James, William, Lewis, and Hannah.

After Ann died in 1829, John married 2nd Beulah Fisher. John and Beulah had one child, Melissa, born in 1832.

John passed away in 1838 and is buried at the Friends Cemetery, where his first wife, Ann was also buried. His Will was filed in Centre County on April 19, 1838. John's Will mentions his wife Beulah and his children including: Joseph (named co-executor with Joseph Green Jr.), James, William, Lewis, Hetty Agnes, Hannah, and Melissa. When John named his daughter Hannah, he further identifies her as the wife of Ellis Irwin.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

On what basis was a match between Iddings-200 and Iddings-172 rejected, as Iddings-200 is unsourced? How does one know/determine that these two profiles are not a match?

Thank you for your interest in the Iddingses. I have examined Iddings-200 and Iddings-172 and just now I suggested a merger based on your suggestion and my examination of the information. Being a novice at this, I am not sure what will happen next..... after my suggested merger.

Super. Always be open to suggestions from others as we all want the same end state -- a tree that links everyone together as accurately as feasible. Sometimes a different pair of eyes helps to see relationships a little differently, even though the suggestions can be blunt, no offense is intended.

After the merger is requested, the Profile Mgrs for the profiles (in this case yourself for Iddings-200 and Rosa Lane for Iddings-172) will review the merit of the suggested merge and if acceptable to merge, will give their approval. The 2nd approving profile manager will then be tasked with actually performing the merge and doing any post merge consolidation/cleanup needed. Subsequent to the merge, the profile manager(s) of the two profiles will now be co-managers of the consolidated profile and have shared responsibility to watch out for the profile.
