Emma Jackson was born in 1846 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England to Joseph Jackson and Martha (Scargill) Jackson. Her birth was registered in Huddersfield in the last quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Scargill.[1]
In 1851 Emma Jackson (age 4, Scholar) lived at Thread Needle Street in Huddersfield with her father Joseph (39, Saddler Employing 8 Men), mother Martha (39), and four siblings: Hannah (13, Scholar), John (10, Scholar), Sarah A (8, Scholar), and Elizabeth (2), as well as servant Jonathan Marsden (17, Saddler's Servant).[2]
Emma's father passed away in 1856.
In 1861 Emma Jackson (age 14, Wollen Piecer) lived at Spring Place in Huddersfield with her mother Martha (50) and two sisters: Sarah H (18, Sewing Machine Tenter) and Elizabeth (12, Servant).[3]
