Biography

Jasper Jeffers Jr. was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Jasper was born in 1884. He was the son of Jasper Jeffers and Elizabeth Newport. In the 1900 census Jasper (age 15), Student, was the single son of Jasper Jeffres in Civil District 10, Scott, Tennessee.[1] In the 1910 census Jasper (age 25), Laborer, was the single son of Elizabeth Jeffers in Civil District 10, Scott, Tennessee, United States.[2]

Jasper married Cansada Brown on 18 August 1910 in Scott, Tennessee, United States.[3] Jasper registered for the draft on 12 September 1918 in Scott County, Tennessee. He was living and farming in Norcross.[4] In the 1920 census Jasper (age 35), Farmer, was the married head of household in Civil District 1, Scott, Tennessee.[5] In the 1930 census Jasper (age 45), Teamster, was the married head of household on Brush Creek Road, Artemus, Knox, Kentucky, United States.[6] In the 1940 census Jasper (age 55), Farming, was the married head of household living on State Highway 92 in Bell County, Kentucky.[7]

Jasper died on 30 September 1940 while working in the woods near Poplar Creek, Knox County, Kentucky. A tree limb fell and crushed his skull.[8] He was buried in Byrges Creek Cemetery, Cordell, Scott County, Tennessee, United States.[9]
