Edward Jessup was born in 1663 in Newtown, Connecticut or Westchester County, New York,[1][2] the son of Edward Jessup and Elizabeth Bridges. Jessup's father died 1666. In 1668 his mother married Robert Beacham. They moved to Bankside, now called Greens Farms, in Westport, Fairfield, Connecticut.[3]
In 1692 Jessup married Elisabeth Hide (commonly spelled Hyde). They had four sons and three daughters.[3]
Jessup died on 28 December 1732 in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut and is buried in the Noroton River Graveyard in Darien, Connecticut.[1][4]

His will is recorded in Stamford August 17 1721, proved in Norwalk January 5 1732 3 and probated February 5 1732. His son Joseph was named as sole executor. The inventory was 650 and is on file in probate records. His widow Elizabeth died in Stamford October 2 1749 in her 79th year. Her will was dated September 15 1747. The personal inventory was 200.
