I recently received the marriage certificate for George Panton's second marriage to Sarah Johnson (your grandfather's parents) who were married at Wrexham Parish Church by licence rather than banns on 24/06/1885. His father was a William Panton, described as a contractor [of what it doesn't say], but without more detail it doesn't really confirm a link between our families. Sarah's father was a William Johnson, described as an Inn Keeper, though the 1851 census describes him as an 'iron master' and the 1861 as a 'lime burner employing 5 men and 1 boy'. He was born at Rowley Regis , Staffs [not far from where I live now]. The witnesses were her brother and sister, Samuel Richard Johnson and Elizabeth Jane McLellan. I have set up 'Another Panton Family Tree No. 5' to accomodate what information I have about George's family on Ancestry.co.uk, so if you're a member you can access it, or if not I can send you a guest or contributor invitation.
