Ebenezer was born 1 Apr 1707 in Massachusetts, the daughter of John Jones and Hannah (Hoag) Jones.[1] She married Aaron Morrill as his second wife 13 Jun 1741 in Salisbury, Massachusetts.[2] No record of her death has been located, but she must have been alive on 13 Nov 1761, when she was awarded a portion of her late husband's estate.[3]

Children

Thomas Morrill, b. 10 Feb 1744 in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts[5]

Note

In response to this note left on the profile:
Aaron’s intentioned to marry the 2nd time to Eleanor Jones, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Gould) Jones of Amesbury, was published 13 June 1741 in Salisbury, Massachusetts where they lived. & She was born ca 1707 in Amesbury, Massachusetts. His will was made 22 February 1759, he died 1 April 1760 and his will was read 14 April 1760 in Salisbury, Massachusetts. At the time of his death he is listed as a blacksmith living in Salisbury, Massachusetts. His wife Eleanor and daughters were mentioned but his son Henry was the executor. There is no Eleanor listed in the U.S. Federal 1790 Census. Children of Aaron and Eleanor Morrill in Salisbury, Massachusetts: Joanna born 28 April 1742 Thomas born 10 February 1744/1745 Widow Eleanor Morrill 1 Male over 45 years of age 1 Female 24 to 45 years of age 1 Female over 45 years of age

Ebenezer's birth record clearly states that she is the daughter of John and Hannah Jones. Joseph Jones and Mary (Gould) Jones are John's parents, and therefore Ebenezer's grandparents. I can't find any sources that show a name of Eleanor for the second wife of Aaron Morrill. The marriage record says her name is Eben Ezer. There is a note on the profile of Ebenezer's father, John Jones, stating that Hoyt suggests that the name Ebenezer is a mistranscription of Eleanor. This seems unlikely, as there are several primary sources, for birth, marriage and births of children, that say her name was Ebenezer. Also, there is a probate record for Aaron Morrill stating that he died intestate and the court awarded "one third party for quantity & quality of all the Real Estate of Aaron Morril Late of Salisbury decd Intestate unto his Widow Ebenizer Morril as her right of Dower" (see link to American Ancestors, below). Beautiful! I'll have to change her DOD to reflect this. She can't have died two months before her husband and still have been awarded one third of his estate.

I now agree with you. I found his estate records online at americanancestor.org https://www.americanancestors.org/DB515/i/13788/18780-co6/30416765 and the court record clearly awards "one third party for quantity & quality of all the Real Estate of Aaron Morril Late of Salisbury decd Intestate unto his Widow Ebenizer Morril as her right of Dower"

Every source, from her birth to her marriage to the births of her children, says her name was Ebenezer. I haven't found a single source that says her name was Eleanor. Until I can find some, I'll keep her as Ebenezer.

I recommend changing her proper first name and preferred first name to Eleanor and making Ebenezer and Other Nickname. It is very likely that Ebenezer was a typo. It was clearly a males name at the time and it is very jarring to see Aaron apparently married to a "man" named Ebenezer.
