Only from family members. And a Keen Family Newsletter Issue #1 Jan, 198 0. Compiled by Richard M. Livingston, South Florida Pioneers, P O Box 16 6, Fort Ogden, FL 33842. This is what the letter says.
For the last eight years I have been trying to compile a family history of the Keen-Keene families in Florida. I have collected quite a b it of information and history on our family but there is still a lot of work to be done. Information on all lines is needed.
Our Keen family migrated from North Carlina to Georgia prior to 1809 and some of them settled in north Florida in the 1830s and 1840's.
The basic family lines are:
1. James Keen, born in c1778, married Edy Bird in 1799 in Bertie Co., North Carolina.
2. Sarah Keen, born c1881-85, married Jesse Collins in 1802 in Bertie Co ., NC This family remained in Georgia.
3. William H. Keen, born c1782, married Lyndia Gillet.
4. David Keen, born c1787, married 2nd, Elizabeth Fitzgerald in Tattnall Co GA.
5. Theophilus Keen, born 1792, married Elizabeth Raulerson
6. George Keen, born c1797, married Elizabeth Robertson.
7. Joseph Bryant Keen, born c1800, married Martha Elizabeth Griffin.
I believe the above seven Keens to be brothers and sisters and children of Moses Keen of Bertie County, North Carolina. Documentation of this is still needed.
Dilworth Keen, born 1846, son of David Keen, was in Sumter Co FL. in the 1 880 census along with wife, Eliza J. Keen and children, Ellen Keen, 186 4, Thomas Keen, 1868, and David Keen, 1877. They later lived at Tuck er in Pasco Co FL. I need additional info on his descendants.
Three children of Thomas and Sallie (Albritton) Keen settled in Polk C o. FL.
1. Margaret Keen, born 1873, married Marion F. Scott
2. Madison Harley Keen, born 1876, married Alma Prine
3. Acey Crawford Keen, born 1879, married Cornelia Prine.
I need information on their descendants.
Mrs. Miram Johnson was baptized in 1861 by Rev. J. M. Hayman along with Frances K. Keen Whidden.
