Mary Kimball married Thomas Howland sometime before their first child was born about 1766.

Death

On September 3rd, 1816, the inventory of Thomas Howland's estate mentioned that she was being deceased, and "the widows w[e]aring apparel" was itemized and valued $49.09.[3] It proved that Thomas Howland's widow, Mary died sometime before her wearing apparel was itemized on “the 8th day of 6th Month 1816,” and it was acknowledged on 3 September 1816 in the court of probate.
Prior to acknowledging the inventory, a citation was signed by Nathaniel Paine, the judge of probate on 7 May 1816, and it was given only to their son, James Howland. The judge crossed out “widow” on the printed citation, so he wanted him to notify his heirs that he is cited to appear at the court of probate in Worcester next June. The judge showed the cause why “the instrument, which prompts to the last will and testament of said decease, should not be approved.”[4] Before this citation was given to James Howland, Thomas Howland intended to appoint both his wife and son to be his executors to administer his estate on 24 April 1816.
It proves that she died shortly after her husband died on 5 May 1816 and before the citation was given on 7 May 1816, so she did not have an opportunity to administer it with her son.
She died between 5 May 1816 and 7 May 1816.
She apparently died in Douglas, Worcester County, Massachusetts, where her husband died before her death. He mentioned her name in his will when he reported his residence in Douglas, Worcester County, Massachusetts on April 24, 1816.

DNA

The mtDNA results of Winifred Jean Johnson, Mary Kimball's direct maternal descendent, indicate that her mtDNA haplogroup is I2, as confirmed by 23andMe.[5]
