Biography

Jurriaen "George" Kittle was born either in 1773 or 1774, most certainly in New York, but whether in Minisink or in Machackemack is uncertain. He has an alternate date of birth of 14 Jul 1774 in certain records. George's surname in various records appears as Keatly, Kittle, and Kettle. George married Elizabeth Weese in 1802 in Virginia. Interestingly, their marriage record is also documented in West Virginia and in North Carolina, I suppose reflecting the changing state boundaries since that time. I am using the spelling of George's surname as Keatley for his children, as it was the spelling they used most commonly in records after 1800 in Ohio. George died in 1813 at Scioto, Ohio. Elizabeth remained there at least for a time after his death, as indicated by the 1820 census which lists her as the head of household.
