Edmond Knowles Sr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A209927.

Edmond Knowles was born about 1747 in Delaware.[1] He was a son of Richard Knowles and Elizabeth (Prettyman) Knowles.[2]

On 1 Mar 1768, he married Patience Prettyman at Lewes, Sussex, Delaware.[3][4] It is said that Edmond and Patience Knowles had ten children, but the DAR record tells us of only one:

  • Abigail, m. Samuel Parsons[1]

By 1790 the Knowles family was living in Greene County, Georgia.[5]

In 1832, Edmund Knowles, Greene County, was listed as a Revolutionary War Veteran receiving a land grant in Georgia. He is recorded on the "Fortunate Draw" list for property in Cherokee County; however, the "Granted Date" is listed as "Reverted."[6]

Edmond Knowles passed away on 20 Mar 1835 at Greene County, Georgia.[1]

Knowles-10279 and Knowles-196 appear to represent the same person because: clearly duplicates - same name (spelling variations very small); same father; same wife....

Please merge into Knowles-196 as it is the earlier profile; keep any sources from both profiles, please!
