Jan Jans Kollen (Collen, Kuellen) & Geesien (Geertje) Hendriks Petter: Children: Jacob (1675), Jan (1685), Mergjen (1687), Femmigje (1685), Hendrik (1690).
Jan Kuellen was listed as paying the Hoofdgeld in 1675, listing 3 adults living in his house. In the Vuurstedenregister in 1675 there were 5 men named Jan Jans. Three had chimneys while the other two had neither chimney nor oven. In the 1683 Vuurstedengeld, Jan Collen is listed as having 1, like most other people on the list. Presumably this means he had a chimney in his house. In the 1693 Zoutgeld Jan Collen lived in Suider Cluft, paying 15 stuivers (nickels), but in the 1701 Zoutgeld, Jan Calen lived in Zwarte Cluft, paying 15 stuivers, more than most of his neighbors. He must have moved between those years. In 1723, Jan Collen's widow was living there - probably his son's wife. Everyone in the family is listed as being Mennonite.[1]
Apparently Jan sometimes went by the last name Dik. This may be a mix-up with one of his grandsons.
