Biography

Jan married Aaltje Hendriks Timmerman on Feb 1 1705 in Giethoorn. Children: Grietje (1705, baptized Dec 19 1723, married Althe Hendriks Scherp), Jan (1705, baptized Dec 24 1730, married Geesje Roelofs), Hendrik (1706), Geertje (1706, baptized Jan 3 1734, married Timon Hendriks Gorte), Jan (1720, baptized March 31 1741, married Hilligje Gerrits Bakker).

According to the Vuurstedengeld, in 1723 the widow of Jan Collen was living in the house Jan Collen was living in during 1682. This was probably Aaltje Timmerman.

In the census of 1748, Jan's son Jan Jans Collendik and his wife Gesien Roelofs had Jan's cousin Jan Hendriks Petter living with them. Jan's other son Jan Collen and his wife Hillegien Gerris Backer had children under 10 years Gerrit, Jan, Peter and Femmegien Jans Collen and a maid, Jantien Lubbers, living with them. It's interesting that Jan had 2 sons named Jan. And Jan's brother Hendrik also had 2 sons named Jan.
