Emma and Jean were enumerated with their children on a farm in St. Landry Parish, northeast of Bayou Teche, during the 1900 census.[5]
Their farm was reportedly owned free and clear of a mortgage in 1910. The census stated that they spoke only French, and could both read and write English;[6]
however, the 1920 census said they could not read or write.[7]
By 1930, they lived in New Orleans with their son, Louis, at 5812 South Front Street, near the Mississippi riverfront.[8]
Emma died in New Orleans on 10 January 1933, at the age of 66 years.[9]
She was buried at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Cemetery in Leonville, St. Landry Parish.[2][10]
