Both Agathe and her husband Joseph Dugas were born in Grand Pré, New France (present Nova Scotia). Each moved to Caraquet with their families and were eventually married there.
Joseph Dugas (son of Charles Dugas and Anne Leblanc) and Agathe Landry (daughter of Alexis Landry and Marie Theriault) were the founding Dugas couple of Caraquet. [2]
She passed away at age 72 on April 28, 1820 at Caraquet, wife of Joseph Dugat. Funerals took place 31 May 1820 in Caraquet in the presence of Joseph and Hippolyte Dugas. [1]
They had the following children:
Barbe Dugas, born 1771, married Pierre Pinet, son of Pierre Pinet and Marie Vienneau, on July 8, 1793.[4]
Hyppolite Dugas, born September 15, 1773; married Geneviève Pinet, daughter of Pierre Pinet and Marie Vienneau, around 1797.[4]
Joseph Amable, born around 1775, never married.[4]
Bruno Dugas, born around 1777; married Judith Allain, daughter of Michel Allain and Josephte Savoie from Néguac, NB, around 1803. Bruno was buried on March 14, 1837.[4]
Anastasie Dugas, born on October 8, 1779, and baptized on October 10, 1779, at Sainte Anne de Restigouche church, Carleton, Bonaventure, Quebec. [5] Around 1800, she married Firmin Théirault, son of Joseph Thériault and Marie-Joseph Girouard. Anastasie died on April 14, 1827.[4]
Laurent Dugas, born and baptized on February 17, 1782, at Sainte Anne de Restigouche church, Carleton, Bonaventure, Quebec. [6] On July 29, 1806, he married Marie Allain, daughter of Michel Allain and Josette Savoie of Néguac. Laurent died on November 6, 1859.[4]
Amand Constant Dugas, born on April 6, 1784 and baptized on June 13, 1784, at Sainte Anne de Restigouche church, Carleton, Bonaventure, Quebec. [7](Research Note: Thériault says that he was born in Caraquet on April 6, 1784, but it was registered in Carleton, QC.) On August 18, 1813, Amand married Françoise Thériault, daughter of Pierre Thériault and Marguerite Pinet. Amand died on April 1, 1860.[4]
Hilaire, born around May 1786 and baptized on June 21, 1786, at one month 20 days old, at Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church in Caraquet, NB. His godparents were Rémi Landry and Anne Beaudry [8]
BUT Thériault says he was born June 24, 1786, and never married.[4]
BUT FamilySearch says baptism is June 26, 1786, at Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church in Caraquet, same parents.[9]
Blanche Dugas, born around 1788; married Léon Robichaud, son of Jean-Baptiste Robichaud and Félicité Cyr of Shippagan, on January 10, 1814.[4]
