1946 - Letters to the Editor:
Liffey Lobsters. Sir,- Regarding Mr. Ayton’s letter, there are still some fresh water lobsters in the Liffey River. A few months ago I saw a large lobster at the Bracknell bridge and within the last fortnight I have seen a half-grown one and a small one in shallow water at the bridge. My grandfather, the late Mr. Isaac Lansdell, put the first blackflsh in the Liffey. These he obtained from the Basher River at Kimberley, bringing them by train and changing the water at each station. He also stocked the river with trout, as prior to that there were only eels, trench and perch. He also planted the first willows along the river.-CLAUDINE LANSDELL, Bracknell.[9] Claudine was the daughter of Claude Harold Lansdell.[10]
