Jonathan was born in 1728. He was the son of John Lapham and Desire Howland. He passed away in 1798.

Jonathan Lapham (John, John, John) was born 6 Jul 1728, Dartmouth, MA. He died 10 Oct 1798, at Nine Partners, NY. He was the son of John and Desire (Howland) Lapham, Jonathan married 27 Dec 1750, Mary Soper, who was born 19 Oct 1722 and died 23 Mar 1800. The 1790 census notes Jonathan living in Washington Co., N. Y.

"New York in the Revolution" Vol. I P. 249, says, Jonathan, Dutchess Co., Militia (Land Bounty Rights) Sixth Reg. : enlisted soldier.

  1. Eunice born 19 Apr 1760, married 1) Howland Soule; (2) 1781, Reuben Head.
  2. David born 23 Feb 1764, twin of Reuben. The 1790 Census lists David living in Washington Co., N. Y. Moved to Ohio in 1818.
  3. Reuben born 23 Feb 1764, twin of David, died 7 Jun 1850; married Elizabeth Finch, 24 May 1786. She was born May 1765, d. Apr. 25, 1844. They moved to Columbia Co. in 1806.
  4. Phoebe born 12 May 1757. She married 18 Jan 1776 Increase Jackson, b. Mar. 18, 1757, son of Capt. Samuel and Elizabeth Jackson. Their children :
1. Samuel Jackson b. Feb. 14, 1777; m. Mary Husted
2. Benjamin b. Feb. 6, 1779; d. 1828.
3. Jonathan b. June 2, 1781.
4. David b. 1783; m. Elizabeth Hall, dau. of Benj. and Catherine Hicks Hall.
5. Mary b. Aug. 27, 1785; m. Daniel Baker, Lenawee Co. Mich. She d. 1863.

Jonathan Lapham was born 6 Jul 1728 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, and died 10 Oct 1798 (aged 70) in Dutchess County, New York. He was buried in the Nine Partners Cemetery in Millbrook, Dutchess County, New York.[2]
