Biography

Nancy was born in June 1844.^[1]She was the daughter of Minor Lequire and Irene Womack. She passed away in April 1927 in Fannin County, Georgia and is buried in New Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Fannin County. ^[2]

Following her divorce from Joseph, Nancy is living in Lower Young Cane, Union County, Georgia with her son Minor M. Bailey.^[3]

Marriage & Children

Nancy married as second wife Joseph L Bailey on 17 October 1884 in Fannin County, Georgia. (Nancy was the first cousin of Joseph's first wife Sarah Womack. Nancy's mother Irene "Arena" Womack was the sister of Sarah's father Willis Womack.)^[4] The marriage ended in divorce before 1920. They had children:

Joseph is listed as father along with Nancy Lequire as mother on the death records of two of their children: Philip Anderson Bailey and Octavia Bailey Shular (see below).

During the 1870's Joseph appears to have maintained two households. He was not yet divorced from his first wife Sarah Womack and they had children born from 1870 to 1879 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. At the same time he had children with Nancy Lequire who were born from 1874 to 1879 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Joseph and Nancy left North Carolina about 1879 for Fannin County, Georgia where they were listed on the 1880 Census (dated 1 June 1880) and were married in October 1884.
