Biography

Birth

Charles Lesieur was born on 30 April 1674 and baptized the next day in Cap-de-la-Madeleine[1]

Recensement 1681 Census: Batiscan

Charles Lesieur 34 ; Françoise de Lafond, sa femme, 21 ; enfants : Charles 7, Pierre 4, Julien 18 mois ; 5 bêtes à cornes ; 8 arpents en valeur.[2]

Marriage

Charles Lesieur married Charlotte Rivart on 9 Jan 1700 in Batiscan[3]

Note: There is another couple bearing the same names of Charles Lesieur married to Charlotte Rivard on 2 Mar 1778 in Yamachiche, that Charles is son of Pierre & Anne Geneviève Sicard, and that Charlotte is daughter of Joseph Rivard & Charlotte Lemaitre, not to be confused together.[4]

  5. Marie Anne, b 4 Apr 1712 grande rivière Yamachiche, bapt 8 May Trois-Rivières; married Jean Baptiste Rivar 3 Feb 1749 Yamachiche
  6. Marie, b c 1713; married Charles Lemaitre 16 Jun 1755 Yamachiche; died 1 Dec 1796 funeral 2nd Yamachiche, listed as Marie Lesieur, 83 year old widow of Charles Lemaitre dit Tellenoist (no apparent issue from their marriage)

Charles and his widowed sister-in-law Simone Blanchet gave a concession of land to the Fabrique Ste-Anne d'Yamachiche (Ste-Anne of Yamachiche parish).

Concession par Charles Lesieur, seigneur d ’Yamachiche, et Simonne Blanchet, veuve de Julien Sieur, co-seigneur d’Yamachiche, à la Fabrique St-Anne d'Yamachiche, d'une terre de 3 arpents (1 mai 1724). Vol XXVII pg 195 Notaire Pierre Poulin[5]

Death

Charles Lesieur died 9 Feb 1739, funeral the next day in Yamachiche[6], listed as capitaine des milices de cette paroisse (militia captain of the parish) around 66 years old on the record.

Note: His name at birth is Charles Lesieur, no dit name, he never used Duchene in any case. ref Quebec, Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1997 IGD, so should be corrected.
