Biography

Catherine was born on 10 May 1808 in Prince Georges, Maryland. She was the daughter of Samuel Dawry Lindsay and Mary Buckman Cawood.[1]

When Catherine was 24 she married Henry Valentine Grimes on 3 October 1832 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. The couple had 8 children: Sarah Ellen Grimes, Cinderella E Grimes, Alfred Tobias Grimes, Samuel J Grimes, Margaret C Grimes, Nutley Grimes, Mary Susan Grimes and Rachel Virginia Grimes.[2]

In the 1850 census Catherine (age 42) was living in Washington City, District Of Columbia, District of Columbia, USA. She was enumerated as a 40 year-old female in the household of Henry V. Grimes, b. MD.[3]

In 1860 Catherine (age about 51) was living in Washington, District of Columbia, USA.[4]

Catherine died on 23 September 1868 in Washington, D.C. Her funeral was held at St. John's church church in Piscataway, Prince George's county, Maryland shortly after her death[5] and she was buried in the churchyard at St. John's.[6]
