John Macomber was born in Taunton, Massachusetts March 18, 1681, son of John and Ann (Evans) Macomber.[1]

He married Elizabeth Williams, daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Rogers) Williams, on March 17, 1707/8 in Taunton. [1]
He was impressed for service in Queen Anne's War in 1701 and in 1711. [1]
John died in Taunton December 14, 1747 in his 67th year[1] and was buried at Staples Street Burying Ground, Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[3]
His will, dated 28 Dec 1742, was probated 5 April 1748. It names his wife Lydia and children Nathaniel, Josiah, John, James, Elijah, Joseph, Elizabeth Rounsevill, Abia and Anna. His son Elijah inherited the homestead at East Taunton. Jan 5m 1732, John Macomber of Taunton deeded to his son Nathaniel one-third of his home farm, one corner being at the saw mill. The same day, he gave to his son Josiah one-third of the same farm.[1]
