Agnes (Mains) Allan was born in Scotland.

Agnes was born Agnes May Mains on the 2nd of January, 1844, at Bairns Land, Bay Street, Port Glasgow, and baptised at Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland, United Kingdom[1], the 1st of `0 children of William Mains and Agnes MacFarlane.

At 7, in 1851, she was a scholar living in Church Street, Paisley Middle Church Parish, Renfrewshire, Scotland with her grandparents and siblings.[2]

At 18, on the 2nd of October, 1862, she married Robert Neilson Allan in Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland[3] and they had 6 children.[4]

At 22, in 1866 she and Robert emigrated from Scotland to Glebe, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.[citation needed]

At 44, on the 7th of December, 1888, Robert died at 60 in Glebe, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and probably at that point she must have moved to Dubbo to be near her brother James T Main.[citation needed]

At 59, on the 15th of June, 1903, she died in Dubbo, and was buried in the Old Dubbo Cemetery, New South Wales, Australia..[5][6]
