Anna was born 31 May 1852 in Steinhagen, Mecklenburg, Germany to parents Johann John Henry Augustus Manzelmann and Anna Sophia Luise Engel.[1][2]
On 23 May 1867, Anna and her family arrived in New York City, New York traveling from Hamburg, Germany aboard the ship, "Eugenie." Listed as passengers are her parents, "Joh" and Anna and siblings: Sophie, Carl, Maria, and Jouchen.[3] Anna was 14 years old.
Two years later at age 16, Anna married Nicholas Valentine Hoehamer on 4 Jan 1869 in Auglaize county, Ohio. [4]
Nicholas and Anna were living next door to Nicholas's parents in Moulton, Auglaize, Ohio in the 1870 US Census. Their last name was written as "Hoechanina".[5]

In the 1880 US Census, Nicholas and Anna were living in Adams County, Indiana. Nicholas was a farmer. Also in the family were their children: George, Jacob, William and Barbara. [6]

Anna died two months later on 4 Nov 1880 in Adams County, Indiana. She was only 28 years old. She was buried in Willard Cemetery, Berne, Adams county, Indiana[7]
