Allen I tend to believe your posting as you are a Mardis & Ruebe n may be part of your family tree. I am a member of the DAR.

Allen: My interest in Rueben Mardis is whether he was a Rev War Soldier. I have not sent his name & profile into the DAR for approval so I do not not know whether it would be rejected or not. I have read there were 2 Ruebens that are often confused. Any real proof would be welcomed.

Joy- There were in fact three Reubens in King George County, VA, two of whom were born after the Revolution. The older Reuben, born before 1766, left no tracks to indicate that he served in the war. The Court of Inquiry indicates that he did serve in the King George militia after the war, but there are no surviving records of this unit prior to 1789, so I can't speak to that earlier period. Best wishes. Al

PS - If you're referring to the Reuben of Shelby Co., AL, I believe he, too, was too young to serve.

William & Ann Rowley Marders are my 5th great grandparents. You & I are probably distant cousins. Thanks for your recent correspondence. Joy

Joy - I guess I'm getting slow, but I'd like to follow up on the distant cousin suggestion. Do you have a public family tree? How about a dna test? Thanks, Al

Allen, I too share Margaret Bingaman/ Barngrover and John Barngrover as 4th Great Grandparents. There daughter Elizabeth married Peter Robbins around 1831 in Brown County, Ohio. As you are aware trying to place Margaret Bingaman and George Bingaman and other brother's from the early 1800's in Ohio to a Bingaman family in Pennsylvania has been nearly an impossible to track. On the Census's for these two they state they are from PA. With the help from a familysearch writer and a Ancestry tree by TKeesee71 they found a possible connection between the Bingaman/ Bingamon and the Coon family that I have never seen before. With Barbara Coon/ McKenzie / Bingaman married George Bingaman after her 1st husband George Wesley McKenzie died in 1814. That pairing of families would have happened x2
