Biography
Francis was born in 1884,[1]the sixth and last son of James McLaughlin and Catherine Sherlock.
In 1917 he enlisted in the NZEF serving with the Auckland Infantry Regiment - A Company. His service records can be viewed at Archives New Zealand.
He returned to Westport after the war and in 1925[2] he married Jeanie Donaldson nee Simpson, a widow with three children.
Francis passed away in 1939[3] as a result of a car accident and is interred at Orowaiti Middle Cemetery in Westport with his brother Thomas.
