Biography

Amand Melanson is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 5 Left. Listed with him is his spouse Anne Babin and 5 children: Joseph, Anne, Simon, Mathurin and Olivier.[1]

Olive Melanson was born about April 1767, son of Amand Melanson and Marie Anne Babin. This would have been a chaotic time for Acadians with the end of the war, being released to leave their imprisonment, and travelling to their desired places to settle. We don't know where he was born but we know when he was born.

Olivier died in Louisiana at an unknown date and age.

The family was deported from Acadia to Maryland in 1755. On 7 July 1763 Amand and Marie-Anne were recorded on a census in Baltimore, Maryland with their children Joseph, Anne and Marguerite who died before 1767. Olivier had yet to be born. [2]
