Amand Melanson is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 5 Left. Listed with him is his spouse Anne Babin and 5 children: Joseph, Anne, Simon, Mathurin and Olivier.[1]
Marie Anne Babin was born in 1730 in Acadia, some say Pisiguit though her estimated birthdate and location varies. Her parents are thought to be Jean Babin and Marguerite Bourg. [2]
The family was deported to Maryland in 1755. On 7 July 1763 Amand and Marie-Anne were recorded on a census in Baltimore, Maryland with their children Joseph, Anne and Marguerite. [3]
She died in November 1801 and was buried on 7 November, 1801 in Gabriel, Iberville.[5]
