Biography

Joseph Muise II was born on June 27th, 1700 in Cap Sable, Nova Scotia. He was the son of Joseph Mius and Marie Amirault. At the age of 4, He was baptized in Cap Sable, Nova Scotia on 22 May 1705. Joseph was privately baptised on the day he was born by Jean Mathieu as was the custom, and the baptism was certified on the May 22nd, 1705 by Father Felix Pain. His godparents were Jacques de Pobomkou and Magdelaine de Pobomkou.[1].

On 9 Sep 1726 when Joseph Myus was 26, he first married Marie Joseph Prejan, age 23, daughter of Jean Prejan & Andrée Savoye, in Port Royal, Nova Scotia. Witnesses were Joseph Myus written d'Entremont, living at Cape Sable; Charles Myus, son of Joseph Myus, living at Cape Sable, brother of the groom; Jean Baptiste Prejan, son of Jean Prejan, brother of the bride and Simon Le Blanc, cousin of the bride.[2][3] Marie Josephe was born on April 22nd, 1702[4].

  2. Anne Rosalie Mius (1729 – May 16 1807) .
  3. Joseph Mius (Jun 14 1732 – about 1822) .
  4. Pierre Mius (about 1735 – after Mar 10 1819) .
  5. Dominique Mius (about 1736 – unknown) .
  6. Louis Mius (about 1744 – Jan 9 1826) .
  7. Marie Cécile Mius (about 1747 – Apr 4 1828)
  8. Radegonde Mius , n. Around September 1741, d. March 24, 1801, Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau, Yarmouth.

It appears that his name is in the St. Joseph church registry in Philadelphia, the last record dated 10 Feb 1763.

Joseph Diezy, widower, married Mary Vincent, widow, both Acadians; witnesses Alexis Dibautau and Oliver Dibautau, also Acadians. 20 Oct 1760 in Pennsylvania, USA.[5]

Joseph was deported to Philadelphia, he was in Massachusetts in 1763. Joseph settled at St. Anne du Ruisseau in the region of Point Rocco, at Cape Sable, around 1767.

Joseph II died in Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., Nova Scotia in 1765 and was buried in 1765 in Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., Nova Scotia, he was 64. .
