Name: James Luther Murray.

James was born 17 Sep 1885 in Russelville, Kentucky, USA [See Research Notes] the son of James C Murray and Matilda A (Mayes) Murray.^[1] He lived with his parents through their move to Finley, Webster, Missouri in 1910^[2] but by the time he registered for the WW I draft^[3] he was with his sister Victoria also in Finley^[4] and he stayed with her at least through 1942 when he registered for the WW II Draft.^[5]

James passed away at 1 AM, 30 Oct 1947 in Seymour, Webster County, Missouri^[6] and is buried in the Mountain Dale Cemetery Webster County, Missouri.^[7]

Research Notes:

His WW II Draft Registration Card gives his birth place of "Russelville, Kentucky, USA". It is uncertain why that record cites a birth date of 6 Sep 1885; his other records and headstone have the correct date of 17 Oct 1885.^[8]

The given name variations in various of his records and headstone; "Luther J", and "J Luther" seems to indicate that Luther was the name he preferred to go by. All his official records record his as James Luther Murray.
