Aymon Stanley Nevels, 90, of Richmond, formerly of Lexington, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Aymon S. Nevels was born Nov. 3, 1919 in Macon, Mo., the son of George Armstrong Nevels and Thurza Findley Nevels. He married Helen Louise Sloan on Oct. 28, 1944 in Kansas City, Kan. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2000.
Mr. Nevels was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington. He worked as a tool setter at Lake City Munitions Plant for 27 years.
Surviving are four children, Carol Arlene Nevels of Richmond, Thurza Falls and husband, Bill, of Richmond, Elaine McCaddin and husband, Andrew, of Raymore, Michael Nevels and Tami Keasling of Lawrence, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Bill Falls, Devin Nevels, Garrett Nevels, Michael Motley, Scott Motley, Logan Keasling and Regan Keasling; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Marissa, Dakoda and Kolton; two sisters, Pearl Russell of Richmond and Kathleen Perry of North Kansas City. In addition to his wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by his parents, and 11 siblings, John, George, Charles, Cecil, Edgar, Ralph, Thurman, Verna, Ruth, Elva and Blanche.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington. Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church of Lexington or Lafayette County Home Health Care.
