Cornelis Nevius was a son of Johannes Nevius, baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam on 19 January 1661.[1] He died 23 October 1711 in the city of New York at 50 years of age. [2]

Marriage
Cornelis Nevius married Agatha Joris (Bowman) in the Reformed Dutch Church of Flatbush (Kings County, New York). The record names them as Cors. Nevius and Agatha Joris. The date of the record is 15 April 1683;[4] this probably is the date of their banns, with the actual marriage occurring later.
Agatha was a daughter of Joris Bowman and Tryntje Claes Van Schouwen. She was born January 1661 and died 1725 at 64 years of age.

Joris Nevius was born about 1686 at Brooklyn and married Willemtje Barkeloo dau. of Jan Harmensen Barkelo & Margrietje -?-; d. 17 April 1744 Bucks Co., PA.
Johannes Nevius, who was born about 1686 and married 9 Oct 1710 at Bergen Ref Ch, Antje Van Wagenen; d. after 1748.
Ariaantje Nevius Croesen, who was born 1690 and married Gerrit <Dirck> Croesen.
Tryntje Nevius Metselaer, who was born about 1692 and married Johannes Metselaer. See Katharine Nevius.
Metje Nevius Metselaer, who was born June 1700 and married Pieter <Abraham> Metselaer.
Sarah Nevius Ellisen, who was born about 1703 and married Bastiaen <Gerrit> Ellisen.

Will
In his will, he wrote: ...I, Cornelius Neffe, of Staten Island, yeoman, being very sick. I leave to my wife Aichte, the sole use and benefit of all estate during her life. I leave to my eldest son, Joras Neffe, a cow, before any division is made; I leave to my three youngest daughters, Katharine, Maritze, and Sarah, each at the time of their marriage, a good bed and furniture, equal with my other children that are married, and a good suit of apparell answerable to them already married, and each a good cow. After my wife's decease all estate is left to my children Joras, Johan, Ariantie, Katharine, Maritie, and Sarah, equally. My eldest son is to have the refusal of my lands if he wishes to buy them. I make my wife executor. Dated April 27, 1711. Witnesses Joseph Arrowsmith, Dirck Kruga, Oswald Foord. Proved May 1, 1712.[6]
