Elizabeth Noland was a Virginia colonist.

Elizabeth was born about 1705.

Research Notes

Elizabeth, daughter of Pierce and Katherine Noland, is believed to have married Nicholas Carroll.[1]

Elizabeth as a Nelson: Short answer - she wasn't - and she's been detached as wife of John Nelson and mother of Sarah (Nelson) Delashment. In doing so, her the marriage information was lost (1704 in Prince George's County, Maryland). I think that the death information (1720 "Frederick, Frederick, Maryland") was probably also for wife of John and it was removed. ~ Noland-165 05:43, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

John Nelson, Sarah Delashment
Sarah Delashment was named in her father's 1750 will, written in September 1750 and proved 5 October 1750 in Frederick County, Maryland. John mentioned his wife but did not name her.[2] Marie Delashment is said to be Sarah's daughter, but she was not born in Maryland (born and died in Fairfield, South Carolina, 1721-1790).[3]
Sarah's Siblings (from her father's will): He names sons John, Bazzell and Arthur and daughters Sarah Delashment, Elizabeth Delashment, Lydia Nelson, and [Vollentine?] Nelson.[4] (Probably Valentine - the given name for the profile attached as John's mother is Valentine.)

Chris - Looking at the link you gave as a source... I don't see that it supports Elizabeth, daughter of Pierce & Katherine Noland, as wife of John Nelson (m 1704... source for date?). The source cited goes to the entry for John Nelson in an online database, which says his wife was "Jane MNU Nelson". WikiTree has Jane as 2nd wife of John Nelson, Elizabeth as 1st. I don't see any support for that. Some Nolands are mentioned in the cited source's Notes but do not appear to support Pierce and Katherine's daughter Elizabeth being John Nelson's wife:

Arthur Nelson 36.506 A FR £27.0,11 £20.4.1 Nov 16 1754 Sureties: Henry Maroney, John Nelson. P.S. The same passage about Arthur Nelson / 1754 is in the Notes for https://www.colonial-settlers-md-va.us/getperson.php?personID=I034218&tree=Tree1 - the entry for Philip Noland (who started Noland's Ferry).

update - website changed its URLs - new link is https://www.colonial-settlers-md-va.us/getperson.php?personID=I34218&tree=Tree1 (no "0" after personID=).

P.P.S. If the Philip Noland mentioned in the Arthur Nelson/1754 passage is Noland-122, the Philip of Noland's Ferry, then then Peter Noland mentioned is probably his brother, Noland-109, and the Thomas Awbrey mentioned his brother-in-law (Philip Noland married Elizabeth Awbrey, who had a brother named Thomas Awbrey-93).

Found the Noland-Nelson marriage I was thinking of... Philip (uncle of the Philip Noland-120), married Bridget Nelson. See children listed on Noland-140. That Philip doesn't have a profile, that I know of. Research I've found on him is on his father's profile (Noland-140).

I had always interpreted those entries as Mrs. Elizabeth (Noland) Carrol, Philip Noland's sister, & Luke and Daniel her children by Nicholas Carrol (hence my notes that they were born before 1733, the date of Philip's will).

Cheers, Liz

ps - the Colonial Settlers entry for Elizabeth Carroll, daughter of Nicholas & Elizabeth ___ Carrol, includes information about Philip Nowland's estate - apparently the same Philip as Noland-120 m Bridget - which has
  • To Elizabeth Carrol for her portion left by her father
  • To Luke Carroll for his portion left per his father
  • To Daniel Carroll per judgemt pd to Mr Mercer

... 18 June 1785 Bridget Noland presented in court this account

(pretty sure that should be 1735, not 1785, considering it's from "Prince William County, Virginia Will Book Liber C, 1734-1744; John Fredrick Dorman pg 48-49: estate of Phillip Nowland")

I don't recall that Luke's entry said "for his portion left per his father"

Hi! I couldn't find support for John Nelson m Elizabeth, daughter of Pierce & Kathrine Noland in either of the sources cited. The Pioneers reference mentions Noland once (p 61), but that's a Mr. Noland listed as husband of a Delashment daughter in a 1752).

I thought I had heard of a Nelson-Noland marriage, but I can't find it now.

The research that my Dad & others have done show that Pierce's daughter Elizabeth married a Carrol, probably brother to Bridget who married Philip (Elizabeth's brother). Milesian Mountaineers shows Elizabeth married Nicholas Carrol (who is, I think, this Nicholas: Carroll-5189).

Nicholas is in Colonial Settlers database, but doesn't give his wife Elizabeth a last name.

Cheers, Liz
