Biography

William was born at Marshfield, Plymouth, Plymouth Colony on 06 May 1690, the son of William and Experience Norcott.[1]

William, then of Eastham, married first to Ruth Mayo on 05 March 1718/19 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[2] Ruth and William had a son, William Norcott born 28 December 1719. Three weeks later Ruth died at Eastham on 14 January 1719/20.[1]

William married, secondly, to Priscilla Paine, daughter of and Hannah (Higgins) Paine. She was a descendant of Mayflower passengers Thomas Rogers and Stephen Hopkins. They published intentions at Harwich and Eastham on 16 July 1726. Priscilla and William later moved from Eastham to Middletown[1] where William died in September 1752.[1] [3] Priscilla died one day later. William Norcott of Middletown, William's son by his first marriage, was appointed guardian on 04 November 1753 to Syvanus, Nicholas, Abner and Priscill Norcott, the minor children of William Norcott, deceased.[1]

William and Ruth Norcott had one son:[1]

  1. William Norcott, b. 28 Dec 1719.

William and Priscilla Norcott had their first 6 children in Eastham, and the remainder recorded in Middletown:[1]

  1. Ruth Norcott, b. 15 Jun 1728
  2. Josiah Norcott, b. 25 Jan 1730/1; d. young.

I believe this Norcott is attached to the wrong parents. William Norcott-114 is the son of William Norcott-64 not William Norcutt-9. Parents need to be disconnected and attached to proper parents.
What sources can you supply to support this theory? Notice that William of Marshfield/Eastham/Middletown named his 4th child after his mother, Experience. That would be an unusual name for an Irish immigrant to use unless it was a family name.
