Biography

Theunis was born before 16 January 1691, according to the Ostrander genealogy.^[1] The Ostrander genealogy does not identify a source for this information. His father's WikiTree profile shows 16 January 1689/90 as his date of birth, also without citing a source. No baptisms were recorded at Kingston in the early months of 1690 or 1691, and no record of his baptism has been found.

Theunis Oostrander was married to Marytjen Suyland on 21 March 1718, in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York.^[2]

Their son Wilhelmus was baptized in the Kingston church on 3 October 1736. ^[3] He was their second child to have that name, a previous son of that name having been born in 1719.

Theunis died some time after 1738, when he enrolled for militia service, and before 29 May 1742, when a document referred to "the Widow Marytie Oostrander."^[4]
