Vertrekdatum: November/Desember 1837, Leier van sy eie Trekgeselskap. n Korrespondent het in die "Graham's Town Journal" van 14/12/1837 gemeld dat sedert 1 Oktober 1837 166 waens die Roetshoekpas (Bamboesberg, net noord van Tarkastad) oorgesteek het en dat, onder andere, PA Opperman met 17 waens ook in hierdie periode die pas deur is.
Sy verdere lotgevalle is nie bekend nie, maar dis blykbaar hy aan wie die plaas Vlakfontein op 3/11/1849 toegeken is. die plaas is gelee naby die Klipdrifdam en ongeveer halfpad tussenPotchefstroom en die Losberg.
