Frank Herbert Patfield was born on 14th December 1907 in Paterson, New South Wales, Australia. He was the third child of Herbert Patfield and Caroline Kimber. [1]
Frank married Elsie Morris in 1931 in Tamworth, New South Wales. [2]
On 25th November 1942, Frank enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force, his nation's all-volunteer expeditionary force for the Second World War. Allocated to the Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, his final posting was to 1st Aircraft Repair Depot, before being discharged on 3rd January 1946. [3]
