Biography

Elizabeth de Peckham, whose parentage is unknown at this time, was wife of John Ashburnham, son of Thomas Ashburnham and his wife, Sarah Wauncy, and mother of his son, William.^[1]

Research note

No evidence has been found for the assertion that this Elizabeth de Peckham was daughter of one James Reynolds Peckham and his wife, Alice De Wypeham. Two given names were almost unheard of at this time. James Reynolds Peckham was further claimed to have been son of Reginald de Peckham and his wife, Alice de Wykham. It is clear from the will of Alice de Wykham that she and her husband had 2 sons, Reginald and James.^[2]

Creating profiles for the two sons of Reginald and Alice will make it impossible to determined which one was supposed to have been the father of Elizabeth de Peckham, wife of John Ashburnham. Consequently Elizabeth has been detached from her supposed parents. It seems likely that she was a granddaughter of Reginald de Peckham and his wife, Alice de Wykham.

born about 1430 d/o James Reynold de Peckham, Esq. en Alice de Peckham (Wypeham); she married John Ashburnham who died about 1491; she remarried his brother William Ashburnham and died about 1493; William lived until about 1531.Is there any evidence for this second marriage
