About the Project

The Mallmann Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Mallmann name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Mallmann name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Mallmanns), by time period (18th Century Mallmanns), or by topic (Mallmann DNA, Mallmann Occupations, Mallmann Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

I am a German with maternal ancestors from the Mallmann family. They lived in the "Hunsrück" mountain area close to the river Rhine. The family also seems to have originated there, my earliest known Mallmannn ancestor is Thomas Hermann M., born 1550 in Karbach. Among his descendants are also the Mallmann emigrants to the US and Brazil. I would be interested to find DNA matches from this family in order to find out which of my genes have a Mallmann origin.

I'm descended from the Mallmann line that immigrated to the US. I believe either Mallmann-83 or Mallmann-78 is our common ancestor. :)
