Ronald,

I am direct descendant of Elizabeth Waggoneer and that is the spelling in the records. She was my Great 2 grandmother, Elizabeth Waggoner Hardman. She was the granddaughter of Anna Fleischer 1. wife of Wilhelm Waggoner and 2. wife of Conrad Lutts. Wagner is an Americanization of the German name. Therefore, in order to maintain the ancestral line the German spelling is used.

Sharon,

I believe you have it backwards, Wagner is the German spelling and Wagoner or Waggoneer are the American variations. There are 2 German baptismal record images attached that has the name spelled Wilhelm Wagner. One of which is for Anna Maria (aka Mary) who immigrated with her parents at the age of 3.

Ronald,

Then most of the writers/records used the Americanized spelling. Thank you. However, the spelling Wagner should be under other names. Did I put that on the profile? Will check and do so if not.
