Biography

Rachel Sargent was born at Amesbury, Massachusetts on August 12, 1683, daughter of Thomas Sargent and Rachel Barnes. [1]

Rachel were married William Currier at Amesbury, Massachusetts on December 14, 1704. [1] Her husband William was born about 1680/1, son of Thomas and Mary (Osgood) Currier. [2] [3]

In her father Thomas Sargent's will, dated February 8, 1706 and probated at Salem on April 8, 1706, he left bequests to all his children including daughter Rachel Currier. [4]

Rachel died at Amesbury on April 19, 1720. [1]

After her death, William married second, Hannah Harvey at Amesbury on March 8, 1721/2. [1] [2]

William Currier Sr.'s of Amesbury will was written on October 21, 1746 and allowed on April 2, 1752. In it he left bequests to the following heirs: [5]

  • son William
  • son Ebenezer
  • daughter Mary Challis
  • daughter Hannah Worthen
  • daughter Rachel Currier
  • grandsons Thomas and Henry, sons of daughter Mary Challis
  • sons William and Ebenezer to be executors [5]

  2. Thomas born on March 26, 1710/11 [1]; died prior to October 21, 1746, when his not mentioned in his father's will. [5] [2]
  3. Hannah born on January 26, 1711/2 [1]; married Stephen Worthen. [2]
  4. William born on June 27, 1713; married Judith Chase on February 19, 1735/6. [1] [2]
  5. Ebenezer born on March 18, 1716/17; married Anne Jones on December 28, 1737. [1] [2]

William Currier3 (Deacon Thomas2 Richard1) seventh child and fourth son of Deacon Thomas and Mary (Osgood) Currier, was born in Amesbury, Mass., about 1680-1. He married first, December 14, 1704, Rachel Sargent, daughter of Lieut. Thomas and Rachel (Barnes) Sargent of Amesbury, who was born in Amesbury August 12, 1683, and died April 19, 1720. He married second, March 8, 172 1-2, at Amesbury, Hannah Harvey of Amesbury, who died July 7, 1729. He died in 1751-2. His will, dated October 30, 1746, was proved April 13, 1752. He had six children:
