Jane Sanders (Saunders) Perkins was born on 18 Apr 1832 in Lawton, McNairy, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Lindsey Saunders (1806 - 1865) and Martha Ann (Landreth) Sanders (1810 - 1871). Jennie became a writer and a poet at an early age. Today, she would be considered an early Poet Laurette of McNairy County, Tennessee. She had many poems published in newspapers before and after the Civil War. ^[1]
