His father Jacob Shotwell served on the Township Committee for Warren Township in 1846. Therefore, Daniel Webster Shotwell was probably born in Warren Township, Somerset Co., New Jersey, like his older siblings. However, they lived close enough to Plainfield that they got their mail there.
