Jacob Simerly was married three times and had several children. His first wife was Elizabeth Grindstaff (1799-1833) whom he married on February 4, 1821 in Carter County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Nicholas Isaac Grindstaff (abt.1766-February 1, 1853) and Mary Magdalen Stout (abt. 1770-aft. 1850). Jacob and Elizabeth were the parents of Elijah, Mary Ann, a son who died in infancy, Nathaniel T., Sarah Jane, Catherine, Susannah, Joanna Elizabeth, and James D.
His second wife was Isabella Gray (1802-!851) whom he married on August 28, 1833 in Blount county, Tennessee. They were the parents of Abraham and Jacob.
His third wife was Mary Jane Hall (1826-?) whom he married on January 31, 1853 in Blount County, Tennessee. They were the parents of Jacob Adam, Phebe Jane, Sarah Margaret, James Henry, John Henry, Nimrod Henry, Mary "Polly" Ann, Eliza Caroline, and Melvina.
