Charles Edward Banks ([1]) outlines the life of Benjamin Skiffe, from his 1691 birth -- a son of Nathan & Hepsibah (Codman) Skiffe, and grandson of James Skiffe, the patriarch of the line -- to his career as a weaver and his removal to Sharon, Connecticut. After the death of his mother in 1696, in 1699 he acquired a stepmother in the person of Mercy Chipman, granddaughter of Mayflower passengers John Howland & Elizabeth Tilley.
Benjamin had two marriages -- both wives from the Vineyard -- the first in 1722 to Abigail Pease, and the second, before 1742, to Miriam Merry. He died, aged 90, in Sharon in December of 1781.
