Genealogy of the Stevens family from 1635 to 1891

Happened upon a possible error on page 22, stating that Philander is a daughter married to Mr. Beal of Danbury.

I was doing some minor corrections on the profile of Ezra Barnum Stevens (son of Forward Stevens on page 21) who is the father of the Philander on page 22 <https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Stevens-19247> (Ezra'is Father "Forward Stevens" is the son of an older Ezra married to a Barnum)

• Philander is a boys name . . . maybe not uncommon for a girls name but probably is.

I was double checking the sources on Ezra's profile, so looking at the information on Find A Grave to see if it might say who his first wife was so I would have a name to try to find verifying information. I Found a huge mixup about two sons named Philander Stevens on the first wife's profile at Find A Grave. (I suggested an edit at Find A Grave and provided some information.)

I am doing some work on that Stevens family (it was an orphaned profile I adopted) which is connected to the Knapp family in my ancestry. If I find additional information about the Philander issue I will update this comment.

FYI - Find A Grave mix up:

• It may shed some light on the probable error on page 22 of this Stevens book

• At Find A Grave there are two Philanders (both boys) listed as sons of Ezra's first wife.
• The profile of the one who died at age 11 has a wrong birthdate, and has him married to an Elizabeth Polly “Eliza” Bearss Betts ~24 years older.
• That may or may not be the woman married to Philander the child of Ezra, IF Philander is indeed a son instead of a daughter.
• Her first husband died three years before the Philander who lived until 1857, so perhaps Philander married her after her first husband died . . . and perhaps Betts was misread as Beal in whatever source was used in the Stevens book. A lot of perhaps'.

• Clearly the son Philander who died at age 11 was not married to Betts, and unless Ezra and his first wife named a second son Philander born when the first son Philander was only two, then they are not likely both sons of Ezra and his first wife. (Ezra did not have children with the second wife who he married after he was widowed.)
